Brake problems that should not wait

Your brakes are the one system you cannot afford to put off. Here are the warning signs that mean it is time to bring your vehicle in.

Squealing or grinding when you stop

That high-pitched squeal is your brake pads telling you the friction material is almost gone. Grinding means metal is already touching metal, which damages rotors and raises the repair cost.

Pedal feels soft or sinks to the floor

A spongy pedal usually points to air in the brake lines or a fluid leak. Either one reduces stopping power and makes driving unpredictable.

Vehicle pulls to one side when braking

Uneven brake wear or a stuck caliper can make your car drift left or right under braking. That puts extra stress on your tires and steering too.

Brake warning light is on

Modern vehicles monitor brake pad thickness and fluid pressure. When that light comes on, a quick diagnostic tells you whether it is a minor sensor issue or something that needs immediate attention.

New brake rotor and caliper installation at Jordan Auto Repairs Jacksonville

A local shop that tells you the truth about your brakes

Jordan Auto Repairs has been keeping Jacksonville drivers safe for years. Brakes are one of the most common repairs we handle, and we treat every job the same way, with a thorough inspection, a clear explanation, and no work started until you say go.

Many drivers worry that taking their car to a mechanic means walking out with a bill full of parts they did not need. At Jordan Auto Repairs, the inspection comes first. A technician checks your pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, and fluid level, then writes up exactly what needs attention and what can wait. You get the full picture before any decision is made.

Brake work covers a wide range depending on what your vehicle needs. Some cars need fresh pads. Others need rotors resurfaced or replaced. Calipers, brake hoses, and brake fluid flushes are also part of what we handle every day. Whatever the job, the parts we use meet or exceed the original manufacturer specification so your brakes perform the way they were designed to.

Every brake repair we complete is backed by an Up to 2-Year Warranty on Parts & Labor. If something we touched is not right, you bring it back and we make it right. That is a commitment we stand behind because we have built this business on repeat customers and word-of-mouth, not one-time visits.

  • Brake pad and rotor replacement for most makes and models
  • Caliper inspection, rebuild, and replacement
  • Brake fluid flush and line inspection
  • Emergency brake adjustment and repair
  • Parts that meet or exceed manufacturer specifications

How it works

What happens when you bring your car in

From the moment you arrive to the moment you drive away, here is how a brake repair visit works at Jordan Auto Repairs.

  1. 01

You arrive and describe the problem

Tell us what you are hearing, feeling, or seeing. A technician listens and notes your concerns before the vehicle goes up on the lift. Nothing is assumed.

  2. 02

    Full brake system inspection

We check pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, and fluid. If you approve the repair here in the shop, the diagnostic is free. If you decide not to proceed with the repair here, we print out a written repair statement so you know exactly what was found, and a diagnostic fee applies.

  3. 03

You review the estimate and approve the work

We walk you through what needs to be done, what it costs, and how long it will take. No work starts until you give the go-ahead. The price you approve is the price you pay.

  4. 04

    Repair completed and road-tested

Once the repair is done, we road-test the vehicle to confirm braking feels firm and even. You get a summary of what was done and a reminder of your Up to 2-Year Warranty on Parts & Labor before you leave.

I remember back in august 2023 I went on a solo trip to FL and rented a car that was having trouble with the air tire pressure light on the dashboard. I tried to explain my best to the man that helped me since english isn't my first language and I was so nervous. He solved it in less than 10mins and didnt even charged me a cent. The humanity, humbleness and gentleness prevailed. amazing service 100% recommended.

Brake questions we hear all the time

How long does brake repair take?
A standard brake pad and rotor replacement on one axle usually takes one to two hours. If both axles need work or calipers are involved, plan for a bit longer. Most customers pick their vehicle up the same day they drop it off. We will give you a realistic time estimate after the inspection so you can plan your day.
How do I know if my brakes need to be replaced or just repaired?
The inspection tells us that. Pads wear down over time and need replacement. Rotors can sometimes be resurfaced if they have enough material left, but often replacement is the safer and more cost-effective choice. Calipers and brake lines are checked too. We explain what we find and what your options are before recommending anything.
What does it cost to fix brakes?
Brake repair cost depends on which axle needs work, whether rotors need replacement, and your vehicle make and model. We do not quote a price until we have inspected the system, because quoting blind leads to surprises. What we can promise is that the price we give you after the inspection is the price you pay, with no additions unless you approve them.
Is it safe to drive with squealing brakes?
A light squeal can mean pads are getting low but still have some life. Grinding, a burning smell, or a pedal that feels different are signs you should stop driving and call us right away. When in doubt, bring it in. A quick inspection costs far less than the damage that comes from driving on failed brakes.
Do you work on all makes and models?
We work on most passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs. Domestic and import vehicles are both welcome. If you are unsure whether we service your specific vehicle, give us a call and we will tell you straight away.
What is included in a brake inspection?
We check brake pad thickness, rotor condition, caliper function, brake lines and hoses, and brake fluid level and quality. If your vehicle has ABS, we check for any fault codes related to the system. You get a written summary of what was found whether or not you proceed with a repair.
What warranty do you offer on brake repairs?
All labor we perform carries an Up to 2-Year Warranty on Parts & Labor. If a repair we completed is not holding up within that period, bring the vehicle back and we will address it. Parts warranties follow the manufacturer terms for the specific part installed. We will explain both at the time of your repair.
